Why do I love teaching?
To answer this, it is necessary to first answer the question: is there a difference between teaching and being a teacher? If the answer is yes, what would it be?
There is no solid answer, but in my opinion, one of the biggest differences is in the empathy of the teacher.
In addition to knowledge and pedagogy, I believe that love is a driving force in learning, and it is inherent to the effective teaching of any discipline. Therefore, it is essential in Education.
In the field of Music, it would be no different. Teaching Music can be very strenuous and repetitive, but a good teacher will know how to arouse and maintain the student's curiosity and interest... A good teacher will often not have a single answer. A good teacher poses questions, encouraging discovery and investment.
That is why I love teaching Music. I take pleasure in inspiring my students and their ability to learn from mistakes and successes. This is the purpose of teaching: to be able to live many lives beyond mine through my students!
With great sensitivity, the Brazilian poet Rubem Alves reveals: βFor me, this is the goal of education: Creating the joy of thinking.β This illustrates the main difference to our initial question.
So, the answer could be this: the main difference is that teaching can be heartless, but the teacher creates the joy of thinking. Creating that joy is why I love teaching Music.
